 LA HORA DEL PLANETA

We're got exciting news about progress on our Green Parish efforts:  at our International Festival, , we recycled and composted almost all the waste that our 500 joyous people generated.  Yes, they ate, drank, danced and played games, created almost 300 total pounds of waste, but only made enough garbage to fill one and a half 30-gallon garbage cans -- that's less than a 12-ouncde latte cup of garbage per person!  All the rest went into our five 90-gallon compost and recycling bins -- thanks to the able assistance of our 14 teen-aged Guardians of the Planet.  So a big thank-you to them, and congratulations to all of us for creating so little waste in our food service event.  Green Parish, here we come!

Which brings me to several wonderful things we're looking forward to:

1.      January's No-Waste Dinner, where we expect 100 diners to come enjoy our gourmet food. is that possible? Come join us, and we'll find out

 2.   What can you do at home?  Can your family beat the record, too?  You need to set up your household for recycling and compost collection.  Let me know if you'd like some information on how to do it.  Then, see if your family can produce just 12 ounces of garbage per meal, per person.  And then, see if you can cut that to 12-ounces per day!

3.  What are you doing to help El Mundo, or Madre Naturaleza  Are these things that we can do here to help "green" our Parish?  Send us your suggestions and comments:

 4. coming soon "Green"Christmas (Not money green eco green) gift wrapping paper and gift bags -- stuff with recycled content, or that's compostable?
